The Fastbuild process means the top floor is built first, with a concrete slab, and then lifted into place before completing the ground floor underneath. Great Living Homes are currently the only residential builder in Australia using this innovative technology, but this method is much quicker than the standard ground floor first process.

The Fastbuild method reduces the need for cranes, hoists or scaffolding for the construction of the home, and these things alone could add up to tens of thousands of dollars in savings for clients. It’s also a safety benefit for staff and subcontractors because they don’t have to work at heights, and the building sites are less cluttered and more accessible.

On ‘lift’ days there are often many neighbours or passers-by stopping to watch the process of lifting the top floor into place using the customised jacks. It is a truly unique experience and once the preparation is done the lift only takes a matter of minutes to complete, which is the most intriguing part.\
