When building your dream home, using different design elements to create eye-catching features can help to showcase your personal style.

Using tiles to create ambience throughout the home is one way to help your style shine, whether it be through using a large profile floor tile throughout the whole house or choosing a small mosaic tile to compliment the kitchen splash back.

We recommend visiting the Porter Davis World of Style showroom to see how interior design can take your home to the next level. Porter Davis World of Style Queensland Lead Interior Designer Janelle Miles shared with us how you can bring your style to life through clever tiling.

"It's important not to overlook many areas of the home when considering your tiling plan. Areas that are often overlooked include the patio and alfresco, outdoor kitchen spaces and exterior façade panels," says Janelle.

"Tiling is a great way to add an extra design element to your home, giving you a sense of visual dimension. Adding something as simple as a subtle feature tile can create a soft textural element, while a patterned tile can provide a dramatic statement."

To help provide some direction on what elements might resonate best with you, Porter Davis has created the World of Style quiz, that you can use to discover which World of Style interior is perfect for you.

"If you are more drawn to our Resort theme, you may like to consider using a large format floor tile that has a natural stone look in a matte and honed finish. However, if you identify more with our Classic theme, gloss subway tiles in a herringbone or brick bond lay pattern might be a feature you consider for your kitchen or bathroom splash back," Janelle says.

"On the other side of the coin, there's our Contemporary theme that you could play with the simple shape of the tiles and different lay types, for example, a vertical stack. To take it to the next level, our Designer theme encourages you to have fun with patterns and textures. Go for the wow factor with a dramatic detailed tile in marble, mosaic or unique pattern.

"At Porter Davis Homes, we strive to give our clients a full design service, looking at each aspect of their home and providing design solutions to cater for any style through two comprehensive interior selections appointments. With qualified design experts on hand to answer any questions you may have, we pride ourselves on helping our clients bring their dream home to life."
