The winners of the 2018 HIA COLORBOND® steel Matt Perth Housing Awards were announced in an impressive ceremony at Crown Towers Perth last Saturday.
The annual black tie event congratulates the exceptional building work and success of HIA members and highlights the growing talent in the Perth region.
Over 1000 attendees from the residential building industry were there to celebrate a record of 74 award categories.
“The HIA Housing Awards truly represent the best builders in each region of WA, and the Perth presentation evening provides Perth members the opportunity to be recognised by their peers and showcase their quality, innovation and creativity. It has been a trying time for the building industry of late, but as the Awards show, our builder member’s dedication to excellence has not diminished.” - HIA Executive Director John Dastlik
It was a high-energy night and really showcased the best that Perth has to offer in the housing industry. There are some really high-calibre projects coming out of this state, and it was great to celebrate that quality and craftsmanship at this fantastic event.

Cassari Group received the highest honour with their spectacular Renovation / Addition project in Highgate awarded the 2018 HIA Perth Home of the Year.
The same project also won Renovation / Addition Project of the Year, Liveable Home of the Year and the Peter Overman Award for Perth Innovation in Housing Project of the Year.
HIA WA Chief Judge Max Pirone said, “Cassari Group have completed a remarkable renovation, keeping the integrity and charm of the original home, while adding an innovative, modern and truly original addition. The quality of workmanship demonstrated by the builder was exceptional, and the attention to detail shown, particularly in the older areas of the home is to be commended.”
Mr Pirone continued, “It is an exciting time to be an HIA judge as we are seeing new levels of ingenuity, resourceful use of materials and outstanding collaborations between architects, designers and builders. The downturn has meant builders have had to dig deep to provide value for money in homes, and I am proud of the dedication our industry has shown to quality in tough times. It has led to many robust discussions around the judging table.”
